My Sister's Keeper is an upcoming film adaptation of the novel of the same name starring Cameron Diaz and Alec Baldwin, with Nick Cassavetes directing.[1] It will be released sometime in 2009. It will star Cameron Diaz as Sara and Alec Baldwin as Campbell.[1] Dakota and Elle Fanning were originally set to play the Fitzgerald sisters but Dakota changed her mind when she found out she would have to shave her head to play the leukemia-suffering character of Kate. Elle dropped out along with her sister, and they were replaced with Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin.[1]

Conceived by means of in vitro fertilization, Anna Fitzgerald was brought into the world to be a genetic match for her older sister, Kate, who suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia. When Kate goes into renal failure and needs Anna's kidney Anna sues her parents for emancipation.
