My Melancholy Baby is a popular song.
The music was written by Ernie Burnett, the lyrics by George A. Norton. The song was published in 1912.
In 1912, William Frawley -- later of I Love Lucy fame -- was the first person to perform the song in public in the Mozart Cafe in Denver. Frawley told the story during a May 3, 1965 appearance on the TV game show I've Got a Secret. The song was covered more recently by the singer Mina[1] Other notable recordings of this tune include Al Bowlly's 1935 recording, Coleman Hawkinsin 1938, and Charlie Parker with Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk in 1950.
The song can be heard consistantly throughout the 1939 Warner Brothers gangster movie The Roaring Twenties, where a vocal rendition of the song is performed by co-star Priscilla Lane.
