My Hairiest Adventure is the 26th book in the popular Goosebumps series.

[edit] Plot Summary

It focuses on a boy named Larry who finds some tanning lotion in his neighbor's trash. However, all is not what it seems, when thick black hair starts to sprout wherever the lotion was applied. The plot thickens when he determines the lotion was completely unrelated to the hair growth; he was actually a subject of a science experiment by his doctor that tried to turn dogs into humans. The experiment failed, and he and some of his other friends reverted to their original forms (causing the parents to move away since they couldn't live with the shame of having their son or daughter revert back to being a dog). The book ends with Larry, now a dog, getting a baby sister, who was actually his pet cat, Jasper, that underwent a similar experiment.

This book was later adapted for the Goosebumps TV series.

[edit] Differences between the book and the TV episode

  • In the book, black hair sprouted on Larry. In the TV episode, it was hair that matched his hair color.
  • In the book, Larry found the lotion in his neighbor's trash. In the TV episode, he found the lotion on a shelf in his neighbor's garage.
  • In the TV episode, Larry and his friends put on the lotion during band practice, but this may not be mentioned in the book.
  • Kristina is absent from the TV episode.
  • In the book, the audition is for a battle of the bands contest. In the TV episode, the audition is for a kid's birthday party.
  • In the book, Lily has one blue eye and one green eye whereas in the TV episode, she has one blue eye and one brown eye.
