[edit] Copyediting

I am very thankful for your copyediting skills! If you are not already, please join the League of Copyeditors. See you around! --Otheus 08:52, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much. I hope I joined the League correctly! ;) Peace.

I don't know if this is up your alley, but I just copyedited the article on Ray Stevens. Perhaps you could do some follow-up proofreading.
To find articles to edit, go to Category:Wikipedia_articles_needing_copy_edit. Here are some Category:Wikipedia_articles_needing_copy_edit_from_April_2007|from April that you might be interested in
--Otheus 20:02, 10 April 2007 (UTC)
Also, be sure to add some kind of edit summary. Usually "cpe" is sufficient. If you go to "My Preferences"/"Editing," click on "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary." This will help everyone, really. Keep up the great work! IGF, --Otheus 07:15, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] User categories

Hey. I saw that you put your user page in Category:Jewish Americans, but that's an article-namespace category, which shouldn't contain user pages (see WP:CAT#User_namespace). Wikipedian categories have "Wikipedian" in the name. I hope this helps, and happy editing. --Galaxiaad 04:37, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

First, you have not yet been officially welcomed, so Welcome! I'm not sure if you need these, but here's some pages worth reading:

You'll probably learn your way around as I did — by exploring. But feel free to ask me any questions.

Second, why in the world do you favor American punctuation? The British style is so much more intuitive. Λυδαcιτγ 00:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

LOL! --Otheus 06:09, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
{{User:Audacity/Userboxes/Ethnic Jew}}. I learned American style too, but I always hated it, and decided to use British — though my English teacher complains about it. Λυδαcιτγ 00:57, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reggaetón

Hi. I noticed you moved the article from Reggaeton to Reggaetón. You might not have noticed that this issue had been previously discussed on the talk page at length, and we determined that English language sources consistently use the unaccented form more frequently, so per our guideline WP:COMMONNAME, we decided that the unaccented name is more appropriate. If you have any questions about this, I think it would be a good idea to bring it up at Talk:Reggaeton after familiarizing yourself with the previous debate.

Thanks for your contributions, and please let me know if I can answer any questions you may have. -GTBacchus(talk) 07:08, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] American and British English spelling differences

Hi. Is it possible that you got your last edit there the wrong way around? I've changed it back, but if I missed something....

[edit] Edit Summaries

Hello. With all the editing you do on WP, I think it might really be a good idea to consider the use of edit summaries (see Edit_summary for info). I find they help other editors a lot, and you might find them useful yourself when checking your own past edits. Thanks! Doctormatt 07:00, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Scare quotes

I'm trying to find any guidance on the use of scare quotes in Wikipedia articles, and came across your user box. Are you aware of any policy or guideline on their use? It's come up regarding Post-cult trauma. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 22:25, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] League of Copyeditors roll call

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

[edit] AfD nomination of Van Gogh (Ras Kass album)

An editor has nominated Van Gogh (Ras Kass album), an article which you have created or worked on, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Van Gogh (Ras Kass album) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:59, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image source problem with Image:AllahSchoolinMecca.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:AllahSchoolinMecca.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:32, 21 April 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Possibly unfree Image:AllahSchoolinMecca.jpg

An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:AllahSchoolinMecca.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images because its copyright status is disputed. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the image description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. BlueAzure (talk) 00:12, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hadag Nahash

Hadag Nahash's press kit says that it plays hip hop, funk and other music. Generally, it is called a hip hop group in Israel. Why did you change the classification to 'funk group'? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 08:59, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

If they hate the label as you say, why don't they do something about it with their producer? In any case, do you have a reliable source to verify what you said? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 17:18, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Don't get me wrong, it's great that you know the lead singer and stuff, but this isn't how Wikipedia works - no disrespect intended. Only that which is supported by reliable sources can be inserted into Wikipedia. Read the verifiability policy for further details. If this policy didn't exist, anyone could say that they personally knew lead singers and such, and insert whatever they wanted into articles. Please find a source (maybe an interview of the lead singer?) where he says that they hate the classification. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 15:29, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
