Muut
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Muut was the personification of death in the Cahuilla Indian culture, and was usually depicted as an owl. Death was considered a necessary part of life by the Cahuilla, and thus Muut was seen as more of a psychopomp than a frightening grim reaper character.
The Cahuilla were an American Indian tribe that inhabited portions of America which now make up part of southern California and northern Mexico.
[edit] Muut in popular culture
Muut makes an appearance as a tall owl-headed man in the webcomic Gunnerkrigg Court by Tom Siddell.
