X-Men: Mutant Wars is a sidescrolling beat 'em up game for Game Boy Color released in 2000. The game is the second X-Men game released on the Game Boy Color system. It involves much of the same characters as X-Men the movie.

[edit] Plot

A band of cyborgs is terrorizing the planet. Believing that Magneto is controlling the cyborgs, the X-Men try to defeat him. You take control of Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, Iceman, and Gambit as they prepare for the battle to save the planet.

[edit] Gameplay

Characters can be changed at any time during the game, which is important as your characters power level decreases as you go. When you change a character, the character you take out rests, and the power level increases. Also, some areas can only be completed by using the certain powers of each character.

The other version of gameplay you must fight all of the Boss characters, and if your character runs out of power, you cannot use him/her again. This is similar to a survival mode style of gameplay, used in most fighting games.
