Hi, Mutum! Welcome to Wikipedia. Hope you enjoy it here and decided to stay. Very nice contributions on Manipur, etc. One thing you should note, though, is that Wikipedia is a collaborative effort. We all contribute by editing and adding to each other's work. Since there is no one author of any article, we do not sign our work. Thanks, and looking forward to seeing more great contributions from you. Danny 11:21, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)
Hi; please review Danny's message above. We don't sign articles here, and such references will only be removed. Thanks for your consideration. -- Hadal 09:50, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Hi, Mutum, and a belated welcome to Wikipedia. Let me repeat what you've been told about linking to your user page in the article-- we don't do that here. Anyone who wants to can click on the "page history" to see who wrote what. A few other tips for you:
- Peruse Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers and associated pages, such as
- You can experiment in the Wikipedia:Sandbox.
- Sign talk page entries with ~~~~, which is automatically converted to a name and date.
- If you have any questions, see Wikipedia:Help, or you can a question to the Wikipedia:village pump.
- I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian Cheers, -- Infrogmation 15:24, 28 Apr 2004 (UTC)
Please remember to put the article title in the first sentence and in bold. Thanks. Rmhermen 12:47, Jun 16, 2004 (UTC)
Thanks for the welcome guys. I am a great supporter of Wikipedia and have linked to it from several websites which I manage. Sorry, about the "signing" thing. Was not really aware of the rules. Thanks again. Dilip Mutum 04:07, 24 Jun 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Himalayan pines
Hi Dilip - nice that you started Chir Pine and Khasi Pine, thanks! The reason I changed Khasi Pine to Sikang Pine, is that while Khasi Pine is a native of India, it is not native in the Himalaya, occurring from the Khasi Hills and Naga Hills southeast to Vietnam and the Philippines. Sikang Pine (Pinus densata) does not occur in India, but does occur in the Himalaya, just over the Chinese border in the Yarlung Zangbo gorge just north of Namcha Barwa (it prefers the drier climate in the rain shadow there). I'll start a new page for Pinus densata later today. The reason I changed to 'pines of the Himalaya' rather than 'pines of India' is that plants follow geographical features, not human political boundaries :-)
Do you by any chance have some photos of the pines you could add? That would be great. - Michael MPF 11:47, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Hi Dilip, thanks for the e-mail with the explanation. Good to hear you are safe after the earthquake disaster, it must be frightening to be so close - MPF 00:59, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Manipur
I noticed you were from Manipur. I have written quite a few pages on Manipuri kings (see Pamheiba, [[Ching-Thang Khomba, etc) and was hoping you could provide some help on other kings of manipur. With a book i recently got, I also was going to write a page on the salai as well. Also there is a Bishnupriya Manipuri Wikipedia run by Usingha (talk ยท contribs). Though I am not meitei (I'm Tamil), I have an interest in the history of the NE region.Bakaman 04:51, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Hi Bakasprman. Yes I am from Manipur. Great contribution. Keep up the good work. Cheers. Dilip Mutum 16:18, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Meitei family Names
A tag has been placed on Meitei family Names, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Amir E. Aharoni 23:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
