Mutual exchange

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term mutual exchange relates to the government assisted social housing sector in the UK. Many tenants of this type of housing have a right to swap homes with other such tenants in a mutual exchange of tenancies. Tenants of different landlords can swap, but they always need their landlord’s permission prior to doing so. A mutual exchange may involve more than two tenants. Homeswapper [1] reported in 2007 a “6-way” swap where tenant 1 moves to tenant 2’s home, tenant 2 to tenant 3’s home and so on until tenant 6 moves to tenant 1’s home. Other terms used for this are ‘Home Swap’ or 'Homeswap'.
