Mutt Wilson

William Christopher "Mutt" Wilson (July 20, 1896 - August 31, 1962) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Detroit Tigers in 1920. Born in Keyser, North Carolina, Wilson was a tall, thin right-hander who stood 6'3" and weighed 167 pounds. He was known as both "Mutt" and "Lank." He started 2 games for the Tigers in 1920 and appeared in one game as a reliever. He had a record of 1-1 with an ERA of 3.46. He had 1 hit in 4 career at bats, for a .250 batting average. His major league career lasted 8 days from September 11, 1920 - September 18, 1920.
Wilson served in the U.S. Army during World War I and later worked for the Seaboard Airline Railroad. Wilson died in Wildwood, Florida in 1962 at age 66. He is buried at Lone Oak Cemetery in Leesburg, Florida.
