[edit] Welcome from Redwolf24

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. We as a community are glad to have you and thank you for creating a user account! Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Yes some of the links appear a bit boring at first, but they are VERY helpful if you ever take the time to read them.

Remember to place any articles you create into a category so we don't get orphans.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome.

[edit] Fixing monobook.js for afd helper

Hi. You tried to install the afd helper, but it seems you copied the script at a time when some things had accidentally been capitalised, breaking the script. Please replace AFD_helper with afd_helper in your monobook.js. Thanks and enjoy! jnothman talk 22:25, 11 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] %u0420%u044A%u0441%u0435%u043B %u043A%u0440%u043E%u0443

Why not list it as {{subst:db|nonsense}} CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 15:05, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

OK that was odd. I was going through RC and saw the above. When I clicked on it I got the AfD tag and a blank page, hence the comment. When I went back to RC I saw this Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/%u0420%u044A%u0441%u0435%u043B_%u043A%u0440%u043E%u0443 which leads to what you were aiming at in the first place. Sorry about the original comment. I deleted the odd named article. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 15:12, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words on my talk page. Jammy indeed! :) Nach0king 09:49, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Microscope

Thanks for the helpful edits on Microscope. I had become so frustrated by a number of recent edits that werre not helping either clarity or understanding. I had expected a massive revertion, so your considered edits were a great releief. Velela 20:57, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sheffield wikiproject

Hi! I noticed your name appearing in the recent edit history of articles related to the Sheffield area. Captain scarlet suggested that we start a Sheffield wikiproject. As I think that this is a good idea I have started drafting ideas at User:JeremyA/Sheffield. If you are interested in the idea please add your name to the list and feel free to edit the draft project page. Thanks, JeremyA 15:41, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] University of Nottingham, Campus 14, Blood Alcohol Level

Dear sir,

isn't that article accurate? according to the article regarding blood alcohol content, one drink or one unit of alcohol DOES raise the blood alcohol content by about 0.03%. therefore 28 shots = 28 units of alcohol = 28x0.03 = 0.84 which is lethal and why i guess students have died

why was that section of the article taken down? Unsigned comment by 213.121.151.178

The Campus 14 article suggests that a blood alcohol level of 1.12 would occur after drinking 28 units (14 pints). However, I've found many sources that say anything above 0.55 is lethal to the vast majority of people. Doctors were astounded to find someone alive with a BAC of 0.914. So how exactly would people regularly be able to achieve an even higher BAC of 1.12 without dying? That would suggest that most people die after drinking 14 pints. I haven't seen many people die after that. Mushintalk 07:18, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

Not sure if this was resolved or not, but the anonymous poster seems to have ignord the fact that your liver and kidneys work to reduce your BAC in between drinks. It's quite possible that you would die if you drank 14 pints /simultaneously/. BenXO 17:37, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Indeed, and apparently around 10% of the blood alcohol evaporates and is expelled in the breath. Interesting eh? Mushintalk 11:59, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why the naming?

Why did you single me out for a mention on Talk: Da Vinci code, did you not like my comment? I note that many people on that page are posting anonymously, primarily due to the controversial nature of religion. Is this something personal? MarkThomas 10:51, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Da Vinci

It was lovely getting your little lecture. My snippet was no more a troll than any of the other many comments of a similar nature, and was at least amusing. I propose you get a life. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by MarkThomas (talkcontribs) .

[edit] Keep up the good work!

Wikipedia moderators tend to have a reputation of over zealously repealling suspicious additions, but for the small number of articles that I have an expert interest in I must say that you've done a sterling job.

I see that your talk page has comments from people who look a bit miffed at your handy work, so I thought I'd break with tradition and drop you a nice word instead. BenXO 20:44, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ah har!

Yeah sorry about the capitalisation, I thought I'd read that headings should be capitalised like that - but on second thoughts that may have been the rules they use on the WordPress codex wiki, rather than here.

You also reverted some useful information which I added in the same edit, but Stevekeiretsu re-added that portion so, as they say, it's all good. BenXO 23:58, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] River Out of Eden

I am thinking about rewriting this article. You posted concerned about its current style. Do you know if there is an article on guidelines for book articles? Fred Hsu 02:02, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

Well, I finished rewriting the article, according to my own criteria, as I could not find any official guide. I just wrote it as a summary of the five chapters in the book, using my own understanding after reading the book for the second time. I did not always present ideas in each chapter in the same order they were presented in the book, because some chapters were not really written at Dawkins' usual level. Chapter two was particularly horrendous; I presented it in a more logical fashion, but kept all facts and statements to sources from this one chapter. Fred Hsu 04:00, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Claire Yan

Hello,

Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.

Thanks! --Vox Causa 04:13, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:DVD decrypter screenshot.png

Hello, Mushin. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:DVD decrypter screenshot.png) was found at the following location: User:Mushin/Images. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 01:36, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] New Erwinia Article Review

Hi Mushin. I am new to Wikipedia, and I have just recently posted my first article on bacterial wilt of cucurbits (caused by pathogen Erwinia tracheiphila). I saw that you added to the Stewart's Wilt page and that you are interested in improving on articles. Do you think you could check out my article and offer me some feedback? Thanks! [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:DVD decrypter screenshot.png

Thanks for uploading Image:DVD decrypter screenshot.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:48, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
