- This article has to address history and diverse styles of music - otherwise the title needs to be changed :) SatuSuro 11:11, 27 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Define it
I don't this is intended as a genre as indicated above. Is it;
- Music from Perth
- Music in Perth
Should it contain:
- Minor and Major Artists
- Venues
- Retailers and Radio stations
- Other festivals e.g. In the Pines
I'm starting to think a comprehensive WA article is needed. e.g. Bridgetown Blues Fred.e 19:59, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- Im going to try to clean this article up as a kind of combination of both from and in. Metao 03:46, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks its always good to get advanced warning ...SatuSuro 03:48, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Further Expansion ideas
Education needs a mention, maybe someone who knows something about, WAAPA, Perth Modern, The Perth Conservatory, and Johhny Yound Talent School et el can contribute a Education sub heading. petedavo
Jazz seems to be having a big following in Perth, but I know bugger all about the scene.petedavo
History of musical entertainment in Perth would have a huge amount to put in it. There's just so much that I can think of here. It would be a shame to lose it, because quite frankly many of the younger generation are not aware of it.petedavo 10:36, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Indeed that is true :) SatuSuro 10:55, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Music Festivals
Excepting for some at Brigadoon etc most of the music festivals seem to be in the country. (South West esp: Fairbridge, Bridgetown et el) but these maybe warrant some mention.petedavo 15:29, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Venues
I'd like to see a table of major venues with capacites & examples of artists that have played there:-
Venue | Capacity | Years Active | Notable Concerts |
---|---|---|---|
Subiaco Oval | 40,000 | 1972- | Led Zeppelin, Robbie Williams, The Eagles |
The WACA | ? | 1973- | The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Meatloaf |
Burswood Dome | 13,600 | 1987-2007 | Red Hot Chilli Peppers, R.E.M., Kylie Minogue |
Add it & expand it if you like the idea Megamanic 09:03, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm in two minds about this idea. I like it in that Ive been asked before about the venues here, and it would seem a tidy way to list the major venues and the bands that have played in Perth. I dont like it because it seems... wrong. Certainly, the other "Music of" articles dont seem to have tables like this... see Category:Unassigned-importance World music articles (linked above), as well as Category:Music by city. Instead, they focus more on the musicians. Have a read of some of those articles and see what you think. Metao 09:43, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feedback - maybe the best approach is a compromise. The scope of this article is potentially huge. Perhaps we could create a few supplementary articles including one on the venues the way I'm suggesting using

For more details on this topic, see XYZ.tags to link to them. I'm not making a big change like that without concensus though. Megamanic 08:59, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

- Id love to say "Put it in", but how encyclopedic does the table feel to you? Im thinking that the articles which dont mention major venues are the ones that are wrong, but Im wondering if the table is the right format for it. Metao 09:35, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe the whole essay about venues should be spun out as well with a table used because it's the best way of presenting the data. I agree that an article containing nothing but a table would be lacking - though look at any number of band discographies - but encyclopediae contain tables when the situation dictates & although I'm not tied to that particular layout something like it does make sense to me. What would suck is a long wordy article that amounted to little more than a list of venues. Megamanic 03:03, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. Metao 03:25, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
