[edit] Musan is a city

it's a city in north korea, it mentioned in the movie 'The Children of the Secret State'- on google vidoeo and previously in discovery 87.68.60.245 20:45, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

The words "city" and "county" have specific meanings in the context of North and South Korea. "City" is used as an English translation of the Korean si, and "county" for the Korean kun. In this case, Musan is a gun, not a si. Inside of Musan kun there's also Musan ŭp, i.e. the town of Musan. However, this particular article is about the second-level division, Musan kun, not the third-level division, Musan ŭp. Sorry if that's a bit confusing. It would probably be good to indicate in the article that there is also Musan town. --Reuben 07:11, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I want to create an article about the town of musan, which is mentioned in the movie 'the children of the secret state', possible to see in google video. how should it be called: musan (town)? musan town? town of musan? not good enaugh. tell me please how to call it Superzohar 20:37, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
I think it would be most appropriate to put that information here, for now, since the town of Musan (Musan-ŭp, 무산읍) is just one administrative division of Musan county. If there is enough material for a separate article, it should probably be at Musan (up), although I'm not certain; we don't have firm naming conventions for tertiary divs of North or South Korea at this point. -- Visviva 20:51, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

How about "Musan is a county (kun) and town (ŭp) in central North Hamgyong Province, North Korea"? The article can stay at Musan and cover both unless there's enough material to make separate pages. If we can come up with a good formula, it would be helpful for other kun pages too. --Reuben 18:13, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
