Taiwan high mountain least weasel (Mustela formosana) is newly described species endemic to the mountains of Taiwan. This species has a pure white coat on the underbelly that is clearly different from the color on the topside. Recent DNA analysis confirms that taiwan weasel is close related to Japanese least weasel and their lines diverged about a hundred thousand years ago. Details about its ecology are still unclear.
