Muso Kokushi (c. 12751351) was a Japanese Rinzai Zen priest of the Muromachi period that helped Ashikaga shogunate Takauji construct a network of Zen monasteries across Japan. This helped to create a national religious movement, and solidify the shogun's power. He was an abbot at Zenrinji and Tenryuji.[1][2][3]
