MuslimVillage Forums is an Internet forum and a section of Muslimvillage.net (formerly IslamicSydney.com) founded in 2002 by Salvatore 'Sam' DeFrancesco and Ahmed Kilani. As of 27th of September 2007, there are 5,959 registered members with a total 600,448 posts. Comments made by the forum members have been quoted in the Australian Media after the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi as well as during the Iktimal Hage-Ali controversy, during which News Limited newspapers accused Ahmed Kilani and his brother, Detective Tamer Kilani of colluding with Sheikh Taj El-Din Hilaly to launch a smear campaign against Ms. Hage-Ali.[1] Mr. Kilani vehemently denied these allegations. In July 2007, David Penberthy of the Daily Telegraph alleged that forum members were making 'racist and jihadi comments'[2], claims which were dismissed by the forum members.
In 2005, IslamicSydney.com was chosen to be archived with the National Library of Australia[3] and in 2006, was the winner of the Mission of Hope Annual muslim achievement awards under the category of 'Media Outlet of the Year'.
