Musidora Stakes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Musidora Stakes is a Group 3 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for three-year-old thoroughbred fillies. It is run over a distance of 1 mile 2 furlongs and 88 yards (2,092 m) at York Racecourse in May.

It was first run in 1961 and is named in honour of the racehorse Musidora, winner of the 1,000 Guineas and Epsom Oaks in 1949. The race is now a recognised trial for the Oaks, and five fillies have won both races – Noblesse, Bireme, Diminuendo, Snow Bride and Reams Of Verse. The 2006 runner-up Alexandrova is the latest participant to win the Oaks.
