Musicians Institute

The Musicians Institute is a music college located in Hollywood, California. The school covers all aspects of modern music, with a focus on performance. In addition to guitar, bass, drums, keyboard and vocal programs, there are also recording, guitar building, music business and film courses.

Formed in 1977 as the Guitar Institute of Technology by jazz guitarist Howard Roberts, the school eventually grew into a comprehensive contemporary music college that prepares students for careers in the music industry as performers and professionals. The school, accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), offers Bachelor Degree, Associate Degree, and Certificate programs in voice, instrument performance (bass, guitar, drums, keyboards), audio engineering, original music production, music business, guitar-building, and music video/film, taught by a faculty of experienced music professionals. GIT remains Musicians Institute's largest program, and the drum program, the Percussion Institute of Technology (PIT), is currently the largest percussion school in the United States, with instructors such as Rob Carson, former three-time world snare champion and co-inventor of the flam marching head. The College is very popular amongst international students from countries as far as Sweden, Denmark and Japan. Students who are accepted can choose to pursue a 4 year Bachelors Degree or a 18 months Associate of Arts Degree. The School consists of many different types of courses from Music Theory, to Live Performance and General Education for the Degree Programs such as (Math, English etc.)
