Music of the Sun is the debut studio album from the singer Rihanna, released on August 30, 2005 via Def Jam Records. The album was co-written by her and the SRP label imprint. The album features twelve songs and a remix of "Pon de Replay" with Elephant Man. For her debut album Rihanna stuck with her Caribbean background style. Music of the Sun includes the singles "Pon de Replay", "If It's Lovin' That You Want", and, in Japan, "Let Me". The album debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200 and at #2 on Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums, selling 69,000 copies in its first week. This is coincidentally the same amount as labelmate Teairra Marí's self-titled debut album, the difference being that Mari's album debuted at #5 and sold 2,400 copies more in the opening week. It has sold 500,000 copies in the U.S. and over 2 million worldwide.
