Mushfiqur Rahman (not to be confused with Mushfiqur Rahim) (born January 1, 1980 in Rajshahi) is a Bangladeshi cricketer, who played ten Tests and 28 One Day Internationals for Bangladesh between 2000 and 2004. Rahman has not been in the frame for international selection since he toured England with the Bangladesh A team in 2005, but continues to play first class cricket for Rajshahi.

Mushfiqur Rahman's international career stuttered, along with his country's fortunes. In one of the early tours of Zimbabwe in 2000/01, in which he played two matches, he failed to take a wicket or reach double-figures, and was omitted from the selectors' thoughts for the next two years. In 2003, however, he returned with a more technical batting technique, almost like an all-rounder, and a strong desire for success, and became - almost overnight - one of the cornerstones of Dav Whatmore's new regime. He produced two important innings to put the wind up England in the inaugural Test in October 2003, before winning the Man of the Series award in the subsequent one-dayers, where his guileless but accurate seam bowling was one of the few bright spots of a bleak campaign. But unfortunately Mushfiqur's good form did not continue and the poor form he has had lately has left him out of the national squad since 2004/2005.

[edit] 2000/01 and 2002/03

He toured with the Bangladesh National Cricket Team in Zimbabwe. He played 2 games and failed to take a wicket and failed to reach double figures, which is a deadly mixture if you are seen as an all-rounder. He failed to return to the squad for the 2002/03 season.

[edit] 2003/04

Mushfiqur Rahman had a relatively successful 2003/04 season as he traveled with the squad and he went well. His seam bowling was a highlight in an otherwise bleak campaign for the Banglasdeshi's. He also ended up winning a motorized scooter for his "Man of the Series" effort.
