Museum of Work and Culture

The Museum of Work and Culture is a museum in Woonsocket, Rhode Island featuring exhibits mainly on the city's textile manufacturing heritage. The museum is operated by the Rhode Island Historical Society and located at 42 South Main Street in Market Square in the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor.^[1]

The museum specifically describes the largely French-Canadian migration to Woonsocket from Quebec known as the Quebec diaspora. The museum is located in a former textile dying building, built in 1915, that was home to the Barnai Worsted Company and then Lincoln Textile Company. Most immigrants to Woonsocket immigrated to New England to find work in the numerous textile mills on the Blackstone River. Displays at the museum describe the culture, religion and stories of the immigrants as they worked in the Woonsocket mills.^[2]
