Category talk:Musical instrument destruction
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Obviously, some deletionist is going to doubt the usefulness of this category. It will stand, however. The destruction of musical instruments has a history, damnit, and I'm determined to track its generations. This is the first step.Yeago 05:07, 13 June 2006 (UTC)

- I'm no deletionist, but I have to wonder about this category. And why is Ben Folds Five in it? wikipediatrix 05:31, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

- A kind friend--a fan--lends me the following quote:"Then we come to Ben Folds Five or referred to as the new 'Piano Man' and his signature move: Folds then left the stage and the crowd wanting more, he returned for two more songs and left the stage after slamming his stool onto the keys- his signature move."

- In antipaction of such sentiment I made the additional note while adding Ben Folds to this category: "Remove [categorization] at band page if you feel this is duplicate, as He was known for it, not band.)".

--- It's a cool concept, but why not make it a list rather than a category? MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:40, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- It would be a very awkwardly worded list. Have you seen some of the members?Yeago (talk) 07:48, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, how about at least giving it a more detailed name? "Musical instrument destruction" would also include events like the Swedish Protestants burning all the fiddles, the Taliban requiring all rubabs to be destroyed, etc. "Musicians who destroy instruments" or something like that would be more specific. It's not quite as "catchy" sounding, but it sounds more professional/encyclopedic. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:41, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- And yet exclusive of those very interesting historical examples? Somehow I find them way more rich than modern pop examples.Yeago (talk) 15:44, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
--- This category is kind of dumb. It's totally superseded by the article Instrument destruction... turn your attention to that article instead, which is a citationless wreck from The Clash onward. 216.165.132.250 (talk) 16:54, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
