Murtaz Shelia (born March 25, 1969) is a retired football defender who was capped 29 times for Georgia between 1994 and 1998.

His clubs include Dinamo Tbilisi, 1. FC Saarbrücken, Spartak-Alania Vladikavkaz, Manchester City and Lokomotivi Tbilisi. He helped win the Georgian league in 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994 with Dinamo, and helped win the Russian league title in 1995 with Spartak-Alania. His career was ruined by injury.

Shelia was a talented footballer and alongside Tishadza, was brought to Manchester City to keep Kinkladze happy, but he ended up doing very well; staying beyond the skillful Georgian. His career was effectively ended by an injury sustained in a League 1 match playing for Manchester City against Reading in March 1998
