Murray Thompson (born December 27, 1953) is currently a member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. He is the son of Lindsay Thompson, a former Premier of Victoria. Murray is also a former Australian rules footballer who played fourteen games with Richmond in the VFL.

Thompson was, like his father, educated at Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne, and earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University. He was admitted to the Victorian Bar in 1982, and worked as a solicitor before entering professional politics.

He has been a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly since 1992, representing the Sandringham electorate.

Thompson has served as the Shadow Minister for Aboriginal Affairs. He is Secretary to Shadow Cabinet.
