Murray Foster

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Murray Foster (born June 29, 1967 in Thornhill, Ontario) is a Canadian musician. The first concert he went to was a Peter Frampton concert at age 12 with Jian Ghomeshi in 1978. He attended Thornlea Secondary School, where he formed Moxy Früvous. No one really knows how the band met as they seemed to say something else every time they were asked. Currently the biggest rumour is that they were at a cherry spitting contest and were all finalists. Details over who won are sketchy, though most of his family believe Murray won.

[edit] Moxy Früvous

Murray started Moxy Früvous in 1990 with Jian Ghomeshi, Mike Ford and Dave Matheson.

[edit] Great Big Sea

Murray began touring with Great Big Sea in 2002 after founding bass player Darrell Power left the band.

On February 9, 2006, the band's tour bus tipped on its side into a ditch on the Trans-Canada Highway about 80 kilometres east of Vancouver near Abbotsford. Their driver suffered minor head injuries, but everyone in the band was unhurt. The band went on to continue their tour including their performance that evening at The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts just hours after the accident.
