The Murjan Tower, or Murjan City Tallest Tower, is a supertall skyscraper planned to be built in Bahrain. The project owner is a Swedish company, with Henning Larsens Tegnestue A/S, Denmark, as the architect. The tallest tower is currently planned to be 1,022 m (3,350 ft) high, which is significantly higher than any skyscraper standing today. However, a planned completion date of the project has not yet been set. This 9,300,000 m² (100,000,000 sq ft) edifice aims to be "the most luxurious ever built", and is also intended to contain what the developer considers the world's largest shopping mall.

[edit] Competition for the World's Tallest Title

The Murjan Tower is competing with several other nearby mega projects, including:

  • Burj Dubai, located in Dubai, UAE, which is under construction and currently the tallest man-made structure on Earth.
  • Al Burj, Dubai, UAE, which is located 22 km (14 mi) away from Burj Dubai.
