Before the partition of India, this village was inhabited by Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs. During the British times, the village contributed towards the British Indian Army and in First World War 375 men from the village served in British Indian Army on different fronts stretching from Mesopotamia (Iraq), Palestine and France. Similarly, in the Second World War, the youth of the village fought in Africa, Europe and South East Asia. After the partition, Sikhs and Hindus migrated while there was an influx of Muslim migratees mostly from Kashmir.
