Murghab District

Murghab (Persian: مرغاب) is a district in the north of Badghis Province, Afghanistan. To the west, it borders on Turkmenistan. Its population was estimated at 42,288 in 1990; as of 2002, the ethnic makeup was approximately 85% Pashtun[1], the remainder being mostly Tajik and Turkmen[1]. Most of the population lives in the valley of the Murghab River.
The district capital is Murghab.
