Murdunna is small town in south east Tasmania that is approximately half way down the Forester Peninsula on the Arthur Highway to Port Arthur. It has a population of 220 and is around 20 feet above sea level. Population increases in the summer months, and it is increasingly becoming popular with people from Hobart who are looking for weekend getaways.
Tourism is a major source of income, although previously primary production–forestry was and still continues to be a major employer. Many inhabitants commute to Hobart on a daily basis with improved roads.
Recreation is centered on Murdunna Bay, actually King George Sound.
