Murat Yuce
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Murat Yuce was a Turkish engineer who worked for the Turkish company "Bilintur" on a U.S. army base in Iraq.
He was kidnapped in Iraq in early August 2004 along with his colleague Aytullah Gezmen, during the U.S. occupation of Iraq. A video of Yuce's execution by shooting at the hand of Iraqi militants was distributed on the Internet. Aytullah Gezmen was released a month later after he "repented" working for the Americans.
In response to this murder, and kidnapping of two truck drivers (who were later freed after their company pulled out of Iraq), Turkey's truckers association announced that it would no longer deliver goods to U.S. forces in Iraq. However some Turkish companies still work in Iraq
Abu Ayyub al-Masri took responsibility in September of 2006 for personally killing Murat Yuce.
