Murasame
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Murasame(村雨), literally "village rain", though often translated as "autumn rain", refers to a type of rain that falls hard, then gently, in fits and starts. In Japanese poetic tradition, it is particularly associated with the cold rains of autumn.[1]
As a name, Murasame is seen as:
- One of two sisters in the Noh drama Matsukaze.
- A famous fictional rain-summoning katana from the 19th century Japanese novel "Nansō Satomi Hakkenden"(南総里見八犬伝)
- Three Japanese destroyers:
- The Imperial Japanese Navy's Murasame (1937–1943).
- The Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force's Murasame (1958–1988), lead ship of her class.
- The JMSDF's Murasame (DD-101) (1994—), lead ship of her class.
- Four Murasame, a fictional character from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam.
- The MVF-M11C Murasame, a fictional combat vehicle from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny.
- The Murasame Liger, a fictional mecha from Zoids: Genesis.
- Fictional swords from the Final Fantasy series of computer role-playing games.
- A fictional sword in the manga Bastard!! wielded by the character Gara.
- A fictional character from the video game Shining Force III
- A doujin soft circle.
- Nazo no Murasamejō, a video game for Nintendo's Famicom Disk System.
Murasame should not be confused with the historical swordsmiths Masamune and Muramasa.
