Muppala Ranganayakamma

Muppala Ranganayakamma (born 1939) is a leading Telugu Feminist-Marxist writer and critique. Ranganayakamma was born in Bommidi village near Tadepalli in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.[1] She wrote about 15 novels, 70 short stories and many essays. The main theme in her works is gender-equality and depiction of women's family life in India. She is best known for her work Ramayana Vishavrukshamu, published in 1974 criticizing the Hindu epic Ramayana. This book was a three volume series with each volume running up to 700 pages. [2]She won the Andhra Pradesh Government Sahitya Akademi Award for the novel 'Balipitham' in 1965.
