Muong language

The Muong language is spoken by the Muong people of Vietnam. It is closely related to Vietnamese, and it is generally considered to be of the Austroasiatic language family. It is a tonal language with 5 tones. Its vocabulary is heavily influenced by Chinese.[citation needed]
It is primarily spoken in mountainous regions of the northern Vietnamese provinces of Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc, Yen Bai, Son La, and Ninh Binh.
