Municipal Waste is a thrash/crossover band from Richmond, Virginia, USA. They are known for their loud, drunk, party atmosphere and rowdy show attendees. Show-goers are known for crowd-surfing with boogie boards, bringing inflatables and general rowdy behaviour.[citation needed]

Municipal Waste played at This Is For You Fest 2005 in Daytona Beach, Florida and at Super Sabado Gigante Fest 2 in January of 2006 in the Bay Area of California. Their concerts in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are frequently filled to capacity, due in part to their friendship with local bands Crucial Unit, Caustic Christ, and R.A.M.B.O.. Their shows in Richmond, a city known both for its wild crowds and fierce support of hometown bands[citation needed], are especially noteworthy, in part due to the band's large fan base in Richmond's fertile metal, punk, and hardcore scenes, all three of which Municipal Waste is a part of. Scott Ian praised The Waste (as they are often called in Richmond) as one of the two best modern day thrash bands, along with fellow Richmonders Lamb of God.

Municipal Waste performed at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2007. Also confirmed for the Reading & Leeds UK Carling weekend festival in August 2007.

They are also scheduled to join At the Gates on their "Suicidal Final Tour" along with Darkest Hour, Toxic Holocaust and Repulsion.

The group's third album (and second for the Earache label), The Art of Partying was released in July 2007.

Municipal Waste have also been praised on their huge success in the mainstream. 2007's "Art of Partying" was a massive hit in the United Kingdom and the United States.
