Munich Opera Festival

The Munich Opera Festival, (Münchner Opern-Festspiele), is an opera festival located in Munich, Germany and presented annually at the National Theatre (Munich) by the Bavarian State Opera. The Bavarian State Opera presents several seasons of opera festivals throughout the year.

One of the highlights of the Summer Festival is "Opera for All" a full-length production transmitted live from the National Theatre to outdoor Max Joseph-Platz. In 2006, the opera was Tristan and Isolde following later with Zubin Mehta conducting Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 at a concert on the Marstallplatz.

Other operas presented during the Summer Festival of 2006 included Moses und Aron by Arnold Schönberg; Norma by Vincenzo Bellini; Falstaff by Giuseppe Verdi plus two Handel operas in addition to others.
