[edit] Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand, found on the east coast of Northland in the North Island, including offshore islands.

[edit] Habitat

This species is found under stones at low tide, and at depths of up to 18 m.

[edit] Shell description

This striking shell is easily recognised by the hiatus in the peripheral axial sculpture. The whorls are strongly bicarinate, but with a third much weaker intermediate spiral, all three spirals being connected axially by rather strong rounded ribs. At the conclusion of the hiatus, two more axials suddenly appear, just before the labial varix. The wide and deep umbilicus has a crenulated edge.

Shell coloration is light brown.

The shell height is up to 1.5 mm, and the width is up to 3.2 mm.
