Mundargi is a panchayat town in Gadag district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Mundargi is very near to two district head quarters ( Gadag and Koppal). It is 36 km from Gadag and around 50 km from Koppal. Mundargi - this name came from the hillstation mrudagiri. This is a combination of two words - Mruda (means Shiva) + Giri (means Hill). Later it become Mundargi. One can see a single stone big hill attached to this city. River Tungabhadra flows very near to this place (around 7 km). And due to this Mundargi doesn't have any water related problems (Though earlier it has lot of ground water with floride. Now most people use the river water). Mundargi has lot of schools and colleges.

As of 2001 India census[2], Mundargi had a population of 20,318. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Mundargi has an average literacy rate of 64%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 53%. In Mundargi, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.
