Description

Potable water gate valve (red device) attached to a PVC potable water main (blue pipe), with tapping saddle. The worker shown is preparing to cut through the gate valve and tap into the blue water main to make a service connection for a new fire hydrant. Note the black four-sided operating nut that allows the utility department to open/close the valve by turning the nut clockwise or counterclockwise respectively.
