[edit] Outdoor School
The Outdoor School program used to be covered in this article, however all the information was removed by Katr. The ODS program is administered by MESD and is an important part of Portland Public Schools, having been a part of the district since the 60s. The ODS program is now covered by neither article however. JordanRL (talk) 01:21, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- I agree that it should be covered, but most of the text that Katr removed was not appropriate for an encyclopedia article. I'd say the intro paragraph of that section, and possibly a list of the locations, would be appropriate. We should also find some media coverage of ODS to cite its significance -- should not be hard to come by. -Pete (talk) 07:48, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
- Please do write up a paragraph or a section about the ODS program in your own words and using reliable sources. The content I removed was a copy and paste from the ESD website and was unencyclopedic because it listed all the contact info for each camp, etc. Wikipedia is not a directory. Note that folks have had nine months since that edit to rectify the situation. I suppose I could have retained the intro paragraph, but words like "zany camp songs" lead me to believe that this was just a bit of original-research camp cruft. I suppose I have failed to appreciate the importance of the ODS program in Portland because my outdoor school experience in Eugene was, well, stupid. Thank goodness for Camp Wilani. - I didn't mean to make that sound like an indictment. I actually agree with the edit Katr made, I was simply pointing out that a side effect was the loss of all mention of the ODS program on Wikipedia. I'll gather up some information for a section when I have the time. JordanRL (talk) 21:12, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
