Talk:Multiplicities of entries in Pascal's triangle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There's an error in one of the binomial coefficients listed for 7140:
{7140 \choose 1} = {239 \choose 2} = {36 \choose 3}
239 is an error because 239*238/2 = 28441, not 7140.
The correct value for this binomial coefficient is
{120 \choose 2}
120*119/2 = 7140.

[edit] 3003
In 1995, 3003 was the only known number appearing 8 times [1]. Is this still the case? DRLB (talk) 22:17, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps David Singmaster knows the answer to that one; you could ask him. Michael Hardy (talk) 23:00, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
