Mulan Joins the Army

Mulan Joins the Army (simplified Chinese: 木兰从军; traditional Chinese: 木蘭從軍; pinyin: Mulan cong jun) is the title of several works in Chinese cinema and theater based on the legend of Hua Mulan. It can refer to the following:

  • Mulan Joins the Army (1928), a film produced by the Minxin Film Company, it was released shortly after Hua Mulan Joins the Army (see below), and subsequently flopped[1]
  • Mulan Joins the Army (1939), a film directed by Bu Wancang with a screenplay by Ouyang Yuqian
  • Mulan Joins the Army (play), a stage play based on the 1939 film, written by Ouyang Yuqian
  • Mulan Joins the Army (opera), a Chinese opera based on the Mulan legend, Mei Lanfang famously played the title role
