Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

• It illustrates an educational article about Cover of the 1960 Cardinal Edition paperback version of Colonel Hugh North Solves The Multi-Million-Dollar Murders, an educational article about the cover illustrator (Robert Abbett) and an educational article about the author (F. Van Wyck Mason).
• It contributes to a critical commentary about the book and author and illustrator.
• The image is used as an important means of visual identification of the article topics.
