Mukthapuram (Telugu:ముక్తాపురం) is a village in Prakasam district, Komarolu Mandal, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Mukthapuram is located at 15.2900° N 78.9667° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 253 meters (833 feet).

Mukthapuram is a small village located on the main road from Giddaluru to Komarolu. It is 11 km from Giddalur and 5 km from Komarolu. This region is near to the famous Nallamala forests. There is a plan to add a new veligonda canal in future near this village.

As of 2001 India census[2], Mukthapuram has a population of 771. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Mukthapuram has an average literacy rate of 50%.

  • Mukthapuram is connected by road from almost all the parts of the state. There are direct buses to Giddalur, Komarolu, Ongole, Hyderabad. Nearest bus depot is Giddaluru, which is well connected to major cities like Ongole, Chennai, Bangalore, Tirupathi, Cuddapah, Nandyal, Kurnool. Komarole has direct buses to places like Vijayawada, Guntur, Ongole, Srisailam, Cuddapah, Bangalore, Proddatur.
  • Giddalur is the nearest railway station and it is connected by rail to Hyderabad, Bangalore, Howrah, Goa, Anantapur, Vijayawada, Bhuvaneshwar, Vishakapatnam and Hubli. The nearest regional airport is Cuddapah [3 hour drive] and international airport is Hyderabad [7-8 hour drive].

It is a panchayat, and encompasses the villages of Basuvapalle and Yennampalle.

Lord Rama temple is the main temple located in downtown of this village. This temple has been newly renovated with the funds collected from the villagers, every evening several bhajans are sung here.

  • SriRamNavami, Moharrum( peerla panduga) are the main festivals of this village. They are celebrated by all communities, reflecting the communal harmony of these villagers.
  • Official game of this village is Cricket. This village boasts to have two mini stadiums.

90 percent of the population lives on agriculture. This village has rich black soil, good for Tobacco, Sunflower, Cotton etc., A small ravine passes through the outskirts of this village.
