Mukhran Machavariani (Georgian: მუხრან მაჭავარიანი) (Born April 12, 1929) is a famous Georgian poet, and member of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia (Georgian Parliament) in 1990-1992, owner of the Shota Rustaveli State Prize of Georgia.
Mukhran Machavariani is known for his poetry against the Soviet Union. He became a respected figure in Georgia after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. Since then, his poetry had become more widely known and appreciated. He was also a member of Georgian Parliament in 1990-1992. In 1988-1990 he was Chairman of the Union of Georgian Writers. Today, he still writes his poetry and has published several books.
