Muid latif

Muid Latif (born February 24, 1979) , began his career as a Malaysian Web Designer and Digital Artist[1] who actively promotes the arts of South East Asia such as Batik and other elements in his digital artwork[2]. Muid is pro-active supporter to Creative Commons and he is the Board Members of Creative Commons Malaysia[3] together with notable film director, Yasmin Ahmad[4] and musician, Pete Teo[5]. He had been contributing talks about IP and copyright awareness from schools to colleges to let people aware of their rights and control over creative creations.

After earning degree in Fine Arts from University Technology Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia in 2001, Muid works in web agencies and design studios to help creative for online campagins like Maxis Hotlink, Petronas's Petrosains, Toyota, Microsoft Singapore and many more. Muid is also the founder of Digital Malaya Project[6](DMP), a non-profit organization and collective art group that supports the Malaysia's creative multimedia industry by contributing his part in art exhibitions from Malaysia to Jakarta, Singapore, Bangkok & Germany, pro-bono projects and campaigns such as Malaysia AIDS Council, Yahoo! Flickr Malaysia group, government bodies and NGO such as Perdana Leadership Foundation which was initiated by former Malaysia Prime Minster, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad[7]. Digital Malaya Project had been supporting the Malaysian Art & Design scene for almost seven years and had been appointed by Adobe (ADAA committee members) to support the Adobe Design Achievement Awards 2008[8] as an official media supporter. Digital Malaya had been nominated as 'Best Selection' in the WebCuts 2006 held in Germany.[9][10] and finalist for MSC Malaysia APICTA 2002 Best Student Project Awards. He is also was one of the final judges for 6th & 8th Philippines Web Awards[11] alongside Joshua Davis[12] & Carole Guevin[13]. Muid is the creative person behind the successful leading campaigns for Malaysia Scientific Excellence in Islamic Civilization, officiate by Professor Fuat Sezgin[14], Angkasawan(TM)[15] interactive campaigns and the creative consultant for creative campaign of WCIT 2008 (World Congress of ICT) & The 11th International Advisory Panel Meeting & Conference.
Muid is one of cast and crew for 'Malaysian Artist for Unity'[16][17][18], a pro-bono project to gain more awareness and understanding about embracing unity without dividing territory among race and religion due to racial tense and racism in the world. Muid had been working and appeared as cameo in video Here In My Home[19] by Pete Teo directed by Yasmin Ahmad & Ho Yuhang. He is also among artist / illustrator to contribute for Malaysian Book of Record for Longest Comic Banner in Asia dated March 2008, located in Comic Fiesta in PTWC, Kuala Lumpur and Creative Consultant to Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC)[20] after working on Malaysia first 3D animated series called Saladin[21].

Muid is the Second generation of Digital Artist in Malaysia along with other successful Digital Artist such as Aadi Salman (Who works on Graphic Novel 'Silent Hill')[22], Milx (who works with Marvel of Silver Surfer)[23], Tan Jin Ho[24], and others. Muid continues the legacy of the late Ismail Zain(The Visionary of Malaysia Digital Art) to explore the depths of local culture and it's arts influence by traveling into the states of Malaysia & Indonesia to study works like the Malay wood carving, batik designs, conducting interviews (artistes, carpenters, craftsmen) and adaptation of the art elements found in his searching to be use in contemporary techniques & methods not only to restore, but to gain more awareness about the value of the local rich culture of Malaysia and South East Asia through the form of digital arts. On the contemporary side of his digital work, Muid inspired by works of Joshua Davis (America), Drew Europeo (Philippines), Nando Costa (Brazil)[25], Adhemas (Brazil)[26], Mike Young (America / Thailand), Mehdi Saeedi (Iran)[27], Shieko Hussein (Malaysia)[28] & Muhammad Yazid (Malaysia)[29].
