- The three Utheemu brothers built the greatest Maldivian ship ever crafted- the Kalhuoffummi and got Dandehelu to captain the ship. They three brothers landed on different island every night, fought the Portuguese and set sail into the ocean before daybreak. They reached the capital island Malé on the night before the day fixed by the Portuguese garrison of Adiri Adiri for the forcible conversion of the inhabitants to Christianity, on the penalty of death for non-compliance. The Utheemu brothers along with other Maldivians who were determined to die for their country and faith, slew the whole Portuguese garrison and gained independence for the country from its invaders. Adri Adri was killed by a musket shot of Muhammad Thakurufaanu himself.

If I were to submit phrasing like this to my editor, she'd shout expletives. This needs to be NPOV'ed. I've put up an npov tag up top; I'll do some homework and slash this puppy into shape... maybe ;) D.valued 13:53, 29 August 2005 (UTC)

You know, I do imagine that some homework need to be done on the FACTUAL ACCURACY of the article as well. I mean, how many of us really know whether or not the story of Muhammad Thakurufaan was a historical fact? Where's the evidence? Is there any? I mean, in revising this article: I think that this is a matter that needs to be taken into consideration.
