Muhallabids (clan)

Muhallabids (Ar. al-Muhaliba) are the kinsmen or clients of Al Muhallab ibn Abi Suffrah.[1] They rose to power in service to the Umayyads before coming crashing down in political struggle with the Caliph Yazid II in 720 CE.[1] Under the Abassids they regained in prominence until the the reign of the Caliph al-Mamun and produced a number of prominent peoples.[1]
