I'm a New Orleanian living in San Francisco and working in North Carolina.

I've contributed to articles relating to marine navigation and other topics with which I'm familiar, but I also enjoy picking random articles needing copy edit and improving them (I hope). My emphasis lately has been on verifying & citing. I think Wikipedia articles contain some really interesting stuff, but it would all be more useful if editors would cite their sources of information.

Regarding time and measurement formats, my habit is to use 24-hour time, and I've taken to using the following format for measurement conversion...

24.5 kilometers (15.2 mi)

Some would argue for the rule that in an article about, say, a geographical item in the United States, the US measurement should precede a metric conversion. I just find it weird to write one article US-first and then another article metric-first, so the heck with it. Metric it is.
