Mud Duck is also a nickname applied to the Coast Guard, primarily by members of the U.S. Navy. Known as "Swabbies" or "Squids", which is the more common term today, members of the U.S.Navy and other branches of the service use nicknames for each other. The term "Grunt" is commonly applied to the U.S. Army and occasionally the U.S.Marines. More often than not, the Marines are referred to as "Jar Heads".
