Comedian's Comedy in Canada
The intended purpose of this article is to showcase and explain the long-standing tradition of critically influential comedy in Canada, as it has influenced the industry at large. The purpose of this is two-fold,
- to produce a significant article that emphasises critically significant and influential comedy in Canada. (Specifically English Canada)
- To downplay and omit comedy that is always mentioned when discussing Canadian coemdy, but is actually terrible. (Specifically English Canada, without terrible TV shows that have mass-appeal (This Hour has Twenty-two Minutes, Red Green, Royal Canadian Air Farce), without humour writers like Stephen Leacock who haven't made anyone laugh in decades, etc.
Fact: Canadians got Conan long before Americans did. Fact: Kids in the Hall is still fresh twenty years after it was made Fact: Mr Show respected Canada Fact: Lorne Michaels and SNL is somehow Canadian?
Does this article have merit? What needs to be said about Canadian humour that has not been given voice in the article on Canadian humour? What point can be underscored by such an article?
