Mu'jam Al-Buldan

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kitab mu'jam al-buldan is a book by Islamic scholar Yaqut al-Hamawi.

Yakut is famous for his encyclopedic books, especially Kitab mu'jam al-buldân (Arabic معجم البلدان), which he started in 1224 and finished in 1228 CE, one year before he died.

It's a kind of "literary geography", because the book covers the history, ethnography, and myths related to the places.
